Introducing Chef TV…
Even in humble homes, preparing and serving food is regarded as a sacred ritual. What is different in each family is the way that the family members prepare the same food. There are rules that are handed down from one generation to the next that govern how people prepare meals. Also, different people have different preferences for what is served and how people eat their meals. There are many reasons why some people prefer to use different types of plates, utensils, or other things. Sometimes families have their own preferences, and others have innovated.
In general, people everywhere cook food, and serving food is one of their main activities. It involves planning meals, buying ingredients, cooking, storing food, preparing the food, serving and cleaning. They have to take into account the preferences of the different people they are cooking for, as well as the special needs of children and the elderly. They have to comply with any dietary restrictions. All this is dependent on the budget allocated. When it is said that way, it seems miraculous that chefs are able to find time to do anything else. Chefs want to create food that looks good and tastes good, that is, that is both healthy and tastes good. Chefs are very creative and can produce some truly stunning food by using their imagination and inventing new recipes.
It is strange that people pay so little attention to those who prepare food, and to their impact on people. It is true that cooking at a late hour is now viewed as a spectator sport, but very little attention is paid to the human interaction that takes place around the act of cooking, serving, and eating food.
It is as though we do not pay very much attention to what is going on in our kitchens. It is very strange that we undervalue the talents of our chefs. We should recognise the talents that they bring to our tables. Why do we rarely praise our chefs? It is really difficult to not appreciate how much people put into their meals and how much they take care of the food that we put in our mouths. It is high time we gave more attention to those who are unsung heroes and heroines, who are constantly trying to please us or amaze us with their creative and delicious food. Even the chefs themselves should be proud of the delicious food that they create, whether it is for everyday meals or meals that are cooked for special occasions.
East Africa Chef TV will tell a lot of our chef’s and suppliers’ stories. We are starting East Africa Chef TV to celebrate our chefs and what they do best, which is to cook. Chefs from all over East Africa are invited to participate. Help us make the show the best it can be! Young chefs will be able to benefit from their senior chefs’ experience and their expert advice on the best ways to cook healthy and delicious meals and to use the best ingredients and kitchen equipment.
We thank all the chefs, suppliers, and supporters that have helped us by being part of our journey and encouraging us to continue.
We are constantly facing a lot of uncertainty and never experienced it more than today. We have been feeling anxious and stressed because of the difficult times that are facing us. We need to be safe and healthy in order to survive these trying times.
