Recipe Scaler and Baker’s Percentage Calculator
A recipe scaler resizes a recipe to the amount you need and shows every ingredient as a baker’s percentage of flour weight. Enter the ingredients, what the recipe makes and what you need, tick the flour rows and the tool gives the scaled quantities and each ingredient as a percentage of flour.
How to read your result
- Scaled quantity: each ingredient multiplied by the ratio between what you need and what the recipe makes.
- % of flour: each ingredient divided by total flour weight. Total flour is always 100%.
- Scaling is linear. Salt, leavening, spices and cooking times may need adjusting on very large or very small batches, so test before you commit.

The Baker’s Formula Sheet lets you record each formula with its percentages, so a bake can be scaled exactly every time.

Frequently asked questions
What is a baker’s percentage?
It expresses every ingredient as a percentage of the total flour weight, with flour set at 100%. It lets bakers compare formulas and scale them by weight.
Can I use this for non-baking recipes?
Yes for scaling. Enter the ingredients, the amount the recipe makes and the amount you need. Leave the flour boxes unticked.
Why do scaled recipes sometimes go wrong?
Seasoning, leavening, evaporation and cooking time do not always scale in a straight line. Taste and test after you scale, and write the adjustments on the recipe.
