Yield Library Workbook: Excel Sheet for Your Own Measured Yields
A yield library is a single sheet that stores your own tested yields for each ingredient. It averages up to five tests per item and shows your average yield and cost per usable kilo.
What is inside
- Columns for item, category, supplier and price per kilo
- Space for five tests per item, each with purchased and usable kilos
- Calculated columns for the number of tests, average yield % and cost per usable kilo It is an Excel file: yellow cells with blue text are inputs, and the example rows are there to delete.
- Room for 40 or so items
It suits kitchens that cost recipes from their own yields. The sheet is empty on purpose: it carries no standard yield figures, so you fill it in from your own tests.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the library have no ready-made yields?
Yields depend on supplier, size and cook. Numbers copied from elsewhere can understate your real cost, so the sheet stays empty until you fill it with your own tests.
How do I use the results?
Copy the average yield % into the usable yield column of your ingredient price list or recipe costing sheet.
